Born from musical hot bed of Southern California, notPopular.com has taken some wild twists and turns through the years.

Josh Highland started working on notPop as a place to post music reviews. On valentines day, February 14th 2002, notPopular.com was launched to the world.

Over the years new features were added including profiles, message boards, podcasts, image galleries, and thousands and thousands of users, making notPop the authority on underground music on the west coast.

After years of having a stale layout, notPopular.com was reborn (affectionately called version 3.0) and launched to the world in early 2009.

notPopular.com focuses on music news and the on-going in the worlds of hardcore/punk/metal/emo and indie music.

notPop has made it’s mark on the internet in many ways, acting as a spring board for many well known bands and the birth place of the the internet meem, “MoshZilla“, among other exploits.
