take off and landings

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

saw wall e. amazing movie. everything about it. i was laughing almost the whole time. the story was great, and made me fear the future. visually it was stunning. the beginning almost looked like it was shot by a wildlife photographer. lots of zooms with the depth of field in careful attention.

i feel like my spelling has gotten worse.. or, rather, i feel like i have to go back and correct things more. maybe because i am typing more and typing faster.

watching a lot of simpsons. seasons 7 and 8. mostly because those were the only ones on sale at target.

spent friday evening collecting more alkaline trio songs. i have 157 on my ipod now, no repeats although a few are live. its crazy to me how a band can be so prolific. but i guess thats what you get when you are a professional band.

only missing a few songs that i know about
BURN (365 days of static remix, on the burn 7″ b-side)
BURN (alleged remix, on the underworld evolution sound track)
LUCRETIA MY REFLECTION (air rad remix)
ANGEL ALCOHOL (goddammit demos)
HALLOWEEN 7″
FINE WITHOUT YOU (indian summer remix)
OFF MY MIND (new years eve 7″)

thats pretty good considering the amount of songs they have recorded.. im mmissing a few live and demo versions too, but those i can live without. for now.

i suppose i should talk about another musical obsession.. GLASSJAW. i have 70 glassjaw songs on my ipod right now. they released two studio albums so far. you do the math.

today the owner of my salon told me i should only work one day a week. needless to say, im looking for another job.

scaring floor

i took my last post off. it may have served its purpose. it may not have. my position didnt get any better, but ive gained some perspective.

my obsession with alkaline trio continues. i went to HOT TOPIC the other day. hot topic. i felt so gross… but they had a 7″ that i guess was only available there, its “limited”, and the b-side is a Tegan and Sara cover. i bought THREE.
jack’s surfboards in huntington came out with an exclusive bag, as far as i know its the only place in the world they are available. i called today. they cost 100 dollars. over it kinda.
nike is putting out an alkaline trio shoe. the ‘heart and sole” nike SB will be available july 11th. i put two pair on hold at BLENDS.
i got the new album the other day. it totally exceeds any and all expectations i had, and in my view is WAY better than crimson and good mourning. people complain that its not dark enough, or too dancey.. but i love it.

im really good at ebay now. just sayin.

im a million different people…

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

… from one day to the next

i have always had so many ideas in my head. its hard to translate them. i think the best example of this is playing guitar. i never received any formal training. i have ideas in my head for songs, but i can never get them out. i cant explain to the other people in the band what i hear.. and the music eventually dies.

i have lots of ideas for tv shows. im convinced that i could be rich if i just knew how to get them out.

i guess my biggest challenge is that, as johnny rotten put it, “i know what i want but dont know how to get it”

currently listening to a cd i made labeled “britpop”. the verve, oasis, pulp, blur… good fucking tunes. people dont make music like this right now. the funny thing is about all of these bands, is that pulp is the only one that i can listen to an entire album. wait.. i dont even think i can do that. “different class” is the closest i can come to that, and even that has a couple songs that bore me. all of these bands have amazing songs, but thats just it. its best served in a “best of” cd, or a burned cd that you made over 5 years ago simply titled “britpop”

that being said, blur’s “girls and boys” has one of the best bass lines ever heard. rivaled only by the bass line to “girls on film” by duran duran.

why am i not a famous music journalist yet? oh yeah. i know what i want, but dont know how to get it.

hulk smash

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

saw the incredible hulk movie yesterday. at first, i wondered why they fuck they thought it was necessary to make this movie AGAIN. i didnt even see the whole LAST movie.
needless to say, i was impressed.
edward norton did a good job, liv tyler didnt make me want to punch her, william hurt was convincing, and the CGI stuff was pretty top notch. the cameos by lou farrigno and stan lee were amazing too.

i read comic books a LOT when i was a kid. first of all, we lived on a dirt road and i lived 30 minutes from my school and any of my “friends”. so i had to make new friends. mostly, GI JOE and comic books. i had a subscription to X-Men for enough years to have over 100 issues. i have seen pretty much every comic book themed movie, and this new hulk movie was probably the best. the x-men movies have been really faithful too, and would probably be my favorite, but fucking hally berry just ruins them for me. shes not convincing and i hate her white wig.

i still have all of my comic books. they have pretty much been the last vestige of my childhood that ive held onto, besides photographs. i sold all of my gi joes the week before we moved to california. i think i have one transformer and one gi joe in a box somewhere. but all of my comic books are intact, many in mylar and plastic bags. some in the original packages they were mailed to me in. ive thought about selling them, but i guess i just never though someone would buy them. or maybe i just wanted to hold on.

speaking of selling… ive made over 200 dollars on ebay in the past week. off of three items.

im looking for any digital versions of songs from a band called EMBASSY. if you havent heard of them, disregard this. if you know what im talking about, you know how amazing they were. i hate not having a cd burner that works.

i hate working right now. just sayin.

as afterwards the words still ring

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

i started a new blog/website, but i will still use this blog to write about random stuff. stuff that bothers me. stuff that excites me. stuff that i dont really care if anyone else reads of not. im not putting this out there for anyone specific to read. sometimes i dont even know why i do it.

found a really good website of old obscure emo band uploads. and by emo, i dont mean taking back sunday or from first to last. i mean frail, moss icon, evergreen… the real deal. listening to this stuff seriously takes me back. this music really filled me with such.. i dunno i guess you could say emotion. sounds cheesy but its true. the “trudy pushpin” 7″ by evergreen and the song “paradise lost” by frail and the embassy 7″ and fucking indian summer records… seriously had this crazy energy that will never ever be replicated.
anyway.. if you want to check it out go to this

check out my website, although if you found this im sure youve heard of it by now

today was fathers day. happy fathers day to me.

we’re up for sale

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

due to my current economic standing, and the fact that i have a surplus of shit that i feel is unncessary, i am starting to put many, many things on ebay. old hardcore shirts, records, whatever. memories. im selling memories.
but those memories arent serving me very well, and i need the money. and someone else wants an XL chokehold shirt or a misfits record more than me.

selling stuff on ebay is more difficult than i imagined. for instance, it costs 15 cents to display more than one picture. and then contacting the winner and blah blah. its almost a part time job. but ive already made 87 dollars in a day.

anyway.. my ebay site is http://search.ebay.com/_W0QQsassZunholybloodlust
check it out if youre interested.

big things are starting to be set into motion. this is going to be a rocky, turbulant time in my life. grab on.. its a sweet ride mama.

fleas

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

i have fleas in my house. it sucks. ive tried spraying, vacuuming.. it sucks

so sunday me, erakuh, and dev went to Tulare to see alkaline trio. picked up eri around noon, and started driving. visalia is about 260 miles away, and tulare is the town before that. we stopped just past the grapevine and ate in & out. got to tulare around 4 and for some reason even though it was only 90 degrees, it felt like we stepped into sudan. or chad. or niger. or the congo.

the show was at an outlet center. like, izod outlet, nike outlet, bed bath & beyond outlet.. you get the idea. my mom came and picked up dev, and we shopped around a little.

the band played on a stage set up outdoors in the corner, kinda like a warped tour setting. there was a couple skate ramps and a million skate rats. id say there was about 250-300 people watching.

it was hot as fuck and the sun was beating on our necks like a hatebreed breakdown. i feel sorry for the band because the sun was right in their faces, and derek (the drummer) was visibly upset. they played an AMAZING set, and it was the best ive ever seen them. i think because there was so few people around, i didnt know anyone there, and the nearest person to me was about 5 feet away, me being 20 feet away from the stage.

leah had introduced me to ron, their merch guy, and we shot the shit a bit and he hooked me up with some gear. ive never seen a person more affected by heat in my life. he was very red and sweaty and there were flies in the tent. i felt bad for him.

i introduced eri to sonic, and we drank ocean water. quite and amazing drink.

we drove to my parents house, about 10 minutes north, and found that they had just eaten BUFFALO burgers. not like smeared with buffalo sauce, but the actual animal. tatanka. dev got a little upset when she found out it was buffalo, but still ate it.

i asked my mom if she had any long lighters, the kind you light candles and bbqs with. she found a new one and said “sometimes i light my joint with these” and then looked at erakuh and said “usually i just use matches”. quite a first impression.
my dad came out of the back room with his shirt off, said “well well well its the fuckin big bad wolf”. he gave me 60 dollars for gas, complained about it, and then told erakuh that he liked her better than devin. then he asked her what her name was again.

my parents are awesome.

the drive home was long.. traffic everywhere. we stopped at a truck stop and ate taco bell/ pizza hut/ burger king and got candy and erakuh got 3 different kinds of mountain dew. i love her extreme flavor tastes.

dropped eri off and got home around midnight. fell asleep about one.

woke up at 5:30. left my house at 6:30, drove dev to school (which is now in echo park or something). it takes about 90 minutes to get there in the morning, and about 35 minutes to get back.

i drove 500 miles in 24 hours.

i said i wasnt going to cut my hair for a year, but yesterday justin gave me my first haircut since october. he cut about 1 inch off the back. im a sellout.

on the road again

Posted by jav in Uncategorized

finished ODD HOURS. what a fuckin let down.
i want to read the iggy pop biography next.

we’re going to tulare to see alkaline trio today. tulare is about 15 minutes south of visalia, where my parents live, which is about 3 1/2 horus north.
last time i saw alkaline trio, at bamboozle, they were full of suck. could have been the hordes of shitty over-the-top-with-every-stereotype-of-scene-kids. could have been dev yelling at me that they were too loud (even though when i moved one hundred feet back, she sid it wasnt loud enough and she couldnt see). could have been the fact that skiba was giving shout outs to jeffree starr.
so why drive way the fuck up there to see a band that disappointed me live? well they ARE one of my favorite bands, and my mom said she’d give me gas money so she could see dev. and leah’s friend ron is going to give us free gear. sooooo it could be worse.

i got a digital camera. its not as good as my old clunky kodak, but it was free thanks to mark.
i also got a flickr. check me out at
